The Spot: Young Adult Opportunity Campuses offer free career and education resources for young adults ages 16-24 in the Louisville region. Located at JCTC Campus (800 W Chestnut Street) and NIA (2900 W Broadway), the Spot provides an inviting environment for anyone needing guidance in figuring out the next step in life, like continuing education, starting a career, gaining credentials, by creating a path to independence and self-sufficiency. Nobody is ever alone at the Spot! Earn incentives and wages as you explore the world of possibilities, communicate with people who get it, and tap into your inner self.

No pathway is out of the question. The Spot partners with a wealth of educational, vocational, and training providers to meet in-demand jobs and creative jobs. Their mission is to create food businesses in West Louisville. For more than three years, Chef Space has been the only place in Louisville to start and grow your food business. With industrial equipment, production workspace and tailored support, Chef Space has everything you need to get started! Metallica Scholars Program

Metallica Scholars is a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. The program has caught the eyes of some major players in the workwear industry who have made significant contributions to their workforce education program. Both Carhartt, through its “Hard Rock is Hard Work” Labor Day campaign, and Wolverine, through its Project Bootstrap program, have helped the Metallica Scholars team to train the skilled trade professionals of tomorrow.

ACE Mentor Program

The ACE Mentor Program of America (ACE) is a free, award-winning, afterschool program designed to attract high school students into pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering industry, including skilled trades. High school students in the Louisville area can now benefit from a nationwide program designed to introduce them to the wide range of career opportunities through mentors from the design-build construction industry in hope of securing young students to become professionals or tradesmen in the industry. Over 10,000 students participate annually, drawn from approximately 1,450 high schools.

Greater Knox Coding Academy

The Greater Knox Coding Academy (ECTC) provides courses and certification for coding and computer repair/diagnostic/security. Graduates who pass the course and certification exams are eligible for high paying careers in government, manufacturing, military, consulting, industry, and business. Starting salaries as much as $40,000 – $70,000. Students who complete the program and pass all the related exams may earn college credit hours. All of these credits count toward the Associate in Applied Science in Computer Information Technology programming track.

UofL CENTER FOR ENGAGED LEARNING

UofL CYBERSECURITY WORKFORCE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Cybersecurity Workforce Certificate Program offered by the University of Louisville is workforce-focused and seeks to fill the gap of entry level positions and cybersecurity jobs. The University of Louisville has created a coalition of schools called “Pathways Coalition” to create a Cybersecurity Workforce Certificate program, funded by The National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity. The Coalition focuses on enhancing student knowledge in cybersecurity foundational courses. Post-graduation, students will have the skillset to begin or grow a career in cybersecurity. The University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences is proud to be the Commonwealth of Kentucky Local Performance Site (LPS) for the Region IV Public Health Training Center (PHTC) located at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. The Commonwealth of Kentucky PHTC LPS offers public health training workshops, continuing education, student field placements, and regional health assessment and collaborative development. Truck Driving Institute (TDI)

Since 1973, the Truck Driver Institute (TDI) has trained over 10,000 of the highly-qualified licensed truck drivers in America, who are hired by their 20+ carrier partners because their standards match truck driver employment policies. Courses at TDI are a mixture of classroom and behind-the-wheel training to ensure that students leave TDI training facilities with the skills, knowledge, and experience that big transportation companies are looking for from their rookie drivers. TDI offers excellent financial aid options including: military benefits, carrier-paid tuition, student financing, and a $1,000 scholarship for self-paying students. In their program, students will receive support every step of the way from enrollment to graduation and job placement after graduation.
