The Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency works to eliminate barriers to economic self-sufficiency for low-income families and senior citizens through community supports and partnerships. The MPCAA works on behalf of individuals and families to help them improve their daily living situations and to stabilize the family unit. The SOUL Clinic of Kentuckiana is a non-profit organization that offers assistance with basic needs or benefits, peer counseling, help with housing, employment or education, connections to services or resources, social and recreational opportunities, structured educational or support groups, and crisis response. Need someone to advocate for you? Have you recently been released on probation, parole, or have served out? We will help you navigate finding a job. Some of SOUL Clinic’s services include:

– Pay Day – Soul Clinic provides a program for job seekers that conducts career assessments, resume writing, assistance in applying for employment, advocating for applicants to the employer, job training, and referrals to other training programs as needed.

– Moving Forward – Need help getting to your new job? Soul Clinic provides a transportation program that offers bicycle, bus passes & rides through Lyft to and from work until you receive your second paycheck.

– Legal Assistance – Soul Clinic helps individuals complete paperwork and determine eligibility for supplemental security income, disability & expungement screenings, obtaining a state-issued ID or driver’s license, birth certificate or social security card. In addition, Soul Clinic can help individuals applying for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) or KPAP (Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program).

Cedar Lake Employment Specialists focus on aiding job seekers in obtaining a meaningful job. Specialists help job seekers to find a job within competitive employment that both earns a living wage and provides a satisfying career while building natural relationships and in the workplace. In addition, this organization offers vocational rehabilitation services to assist individuals with their goals to reach their employment outcomes. Home of the Innocents – Pathways HOME is a leader in transforming communities through programs that are trauma-responsive, innovative, and evidence-based. Their leadership is committed to developing and supporting a diverse, inclusive, values-led workforce. The Pathways HOME program provides services to young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 and their children. This program offers the kind of care and education that can make a huge difference in young people’s ability to care for themselves and their families. Their experienced and dedicated staff help Pathways HOME clients develop independent living skills, enroll in and complete education, access community resources, seek affordable housing, and access mental health services. Participants are expected to fulfill certain obligations in order to benefit from the program. These expectations include maintaining a job, completing education, and weekly contact with their case manager.

Options Unlimited, Inc.

Options Unlimited, Inc. (OU) provides a variety of employment services at no cost to individuals with disabilities and supports individuals so that they may achieve their desired vocational goals of working in the community. Individuals begin the Supported Employment process at the assessment and planning stage. During this time OU will look at the individual’s interests and skills and match these to a potential employer through job development. On-the-job training and coaching is a support that is offered to assure success of the individuals in the OU Supported Employment Program. Ongoing follow up and support is provided to ensure the long-term success of the individual working in the community with services such as training programs, resume development, interviewing skills, job readiness, job development services and on-the-job support.

Iron Workers Local 70 JATC (Apprenticeship Program)

This is a four-year apprenticeship and employment in structural steel, reinforcing steel, welding, factory maintenance and more. The Training Center is approved by the Kentucky and US DOL, also a Certified AWS Training and Testing Facility, and their teachers are MSHA and OSHA Certified Outreach Providers. With every new job, their members are taught to see it as an opportunity to become a better craftsman, and learn from the most critical down to the simplest detail. The success of the region’s workforce depends on our contractor’s success, and that starts by employing the best-trained, safest, and most productive ironworkers. This apprenticeship program provides an excellent opportunity to learn a craft that will provide lifelong security with excellent wages and benefits. Apprentices earn while they learn by completing 208 classroom hours and 1500 hours of on-the-job training (OJT).

River Valley Resources

River Valley Resources (RVR) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1990 to help low-income and disadvantaged Hoosiers obtain and maintain gainful employment. They have offices in New Albany, IN and others throughout the state. Since its inception, RVR has managed over $250 million in federal, state, and local workforce development related grants and contracts. RVR is currently responsible for administering more than 1.8 million in federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds in Indiana.

Services include:

– job coaching and retention services.
