Programs:

A leadership program that deepens your connection to the community and your capacity to make a difference.For over 40 years, The Leadership Louisville program has been part of the fabric of our community. Both lifelong residents and those new to Louisville learn more about the city over 10 months – exploring a new sector each session. Carefully designed cohorts and curriculum provide an unmatched experience. The Leadership Louisville program is designed for established leaders who are ready to generate meaningful social impact and contribute to the region’s growth and success. Approximately 60 leaders are selected through a competitive application process each year to represent the diversity of the Louisville region.

 

The Bingham Fellows program annually brings together about 40 experienced Louisville leaders to address one of the region’s most critical issues. Considered our most advanced leadership program, a diverse class of participants is selected following a competitive application process to ensure the class includes content experts and unique voices representing all parts of the community. ​

 

 

Ignite Louisville is a leadership program that builds stronger next-generation leaders. Ignite Louisville is a professional development program like no other. This award-winning experience combines training, intensive team building, and hands-on work with a local nonprofit over the course of 6 months. Our participants graduate with the skills, confidence, problem-solving abilities, and connections essential to realizing leadership potential, pushing the needle for both our participants and their employers.

 

 

Encore Louisville is for experienced leaders who have spent decades of their careers in leadership roles, and want to give back to the community. Through the program, they share their wisdom to make our community’s nonprofits stronger.

 

 

 

 

For more than 30 years, Focus Louisville has offered everyone from newcomers to native Louisvillians a fascinating insider’s look at our city. Focus Louisville can jumpstart your journey in making our city better for all citizens. You will connect with 50 other civic-minded Louisvillians you might not otherwise have had the opportunity to meet. You’ll gain a more complete view and understanding of Louisville, along with a better sense of belonging, and how to put leadership into action.

 

 

A program of the Leadership Louisville Center, Leadership Accelerator is a new initiative designed to accelerate the growth of a company’s diverse talent, grow skill sets in individuals, and deepen connections between affinity group leaders.

Louisville Urban League

The Louisville Urban League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, community service organization dedicated to eliminating racism and its adverse impacts on the community. Their mission is to assist African Americans and other marginalized populations in attaining social and economic equality through direct services and advocacy. As part of a broader National Urban League network of historic civil rights organizations throughout the United States, the Louisville Urban League, like all affiliates, is dedicated to fostering economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically underserved urban communities, with our focus on Jobs, Justice, Education, Health, Housing, and Black Business. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

CLEAN START
CLEAN START The Louisville Urban League (LUL) has teamed up with Facility Management Services (FMS), a janitorial service in town and one of our community partners, to create a new program, “Clean Start.” Although the perception of working in janitorial service may be misleading, it’s a lot more than just cleaning! The key to this partnership is the combination of a nonprofit’s wraparound support with a for-profit’s social mission based a collaborative goal of having a positive impact on society, workers, and the community. Anyone who signs onto Clean Start can enjoy the peace of mind that LUL’s wraparound services afford, such as helping people pay their rent and utilities, finding reliable transportation, and seeking mental health counseling.

PATHWAYS TO TECH CAREERS
The Pathways to Tech Careers Program by the Louisville Urban League is an 8-week entry-level online digital skills course that kickstarts your tech support career. During the class, participants will get an introduction to the computer and the convergence of technology, and will have the option to continue learning and gain tech credentials. Instruction is provided by Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC): participants will receive college credits through JCTC, and scholarships are available! URBAN SENIOR JOBS PROGRAM
The Urban Seniors Jobs Program provides subsidized, service-based training for low-income persons 55 or older. Participants receive training that helps them to upgrade their current skills for re-entry into the workplace. Participants work an average of 20 hours a week, and are paid the highest of federal, state or local minimum wage. You can qualify while receiving social security, unemployment, disability, and other benefits. Veterans are encouraged to apply!

WORKFORCE WEDNESDAYS
Led by the region’s top corporate recruiters, skilled human resources professionals, life skills and leadership coaches, CEOs, and Meyers Briggs certified trainers, Workforce Wednesday workshop topics include interviewing skills, communication skills, teamwork, conflict resolution, adaptability, problem-solving, workplace ethics, self-awareness, and more. Workforce Wednesdays help you to develop the critical skills that can enhance your career, enrich relationships and sharpen your leadership capacities.

Code Louisville

Code Louisville provides quality training and support to help residents of Louisville enter software development careers at no charge. Code Louisville offers a variety of courses covering the development of websites and applications, data analytics, and more. They will guide students in learning not only the skills a programmer needs, but also provide them with resume-writing assistance, interview workshops, a community of developers to network with, mentors to answer questions, and a network of employers interested in finding their next developer!

160 Truck Driving Academy

Are you ready to take the first step towards a higher-paying career by earning your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)? With one instructor for every four students, 160 Driving Academy invests the individual time needed to make sure each student excels in his or her industry and is able to provide closer supervision and personalized instruction. Their team is passionate about their students’ success, and their instructors will do everything they can to help students achieve their career goals. Plus, learning to drive a truck and completing training doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming! Students at 160 Driving Academy will graduate in just four weeks ready to enter an industry with an average salary of over $50k, according to market data. Through this school, many students receive full reimbursement of tuition from their future employers.

Kentuckiana Builds can prepare participants for quality professions like electricians, carpenters, fiber optic installers, welders, and many more. This program can equip you with the hands-on skills you’ll need for the job and connect you to local employers who are hiring. To be eligible to receive training through Kentuckiana Builds, you must be 18 years of age or older, be eligible to work in the United States, have a state-issued ID, have a high school diploma or GED, and have selective service registration (males only).

Chefs for Success

Chefs for Success, by the Salvation Army, is a workforce development program for those interested in obtaining employment in the culinary industry upon completion. Chefs for Success participants gain the foundational skills to apply for an entry-level position in the culinary industry. Participants will complete a free, five-week class and then will be provided with interviewing and employment best practices and earn a Food Handler certificate that adds value to their skill set.

Venture Connectors

 

Venture Connectors is an incorporated, not-for-profit business association originally formed in 1995 as the Venture Club of Louisville. Venture Connectors’ goal is to connect entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, inventors, academics, practitioners, technologists, students and business experts to encourage the expansion of business and commercial investment activities in the Kentuckiana region. Events include monthly luncheons and the annual Venture Sharks™ competition.
